Rise of Mana composer and soundtrack details
Seven years after the last main release, Square Enix have announced that they will release a new game in the Mana series imminently. The catch? It’s a free-to-play smartphone game. However, the musical score indicates that Square Enix still intends to stay faithful to the series’ history.
The three main composers from the series’ history, Kenji Ito (Seiken Densetsu, Children of Mana, Dawn of Mana), Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3), and Yoko Shimomura (Legend of Mana, Heroes of Mana), have all penned tracks for the game. In-house composer Tsuyoshi Sekito is also contributing to the project and there will also be a theme song (“Believe in the Spirit”) sung by KOKIA.
The announcement trailer displays each composer’s musicality with a series of tracks from the title. The title’s arrangement of the series’ main theme “Rising Sun” can also be heard at the soundtrack’s official site.
Square Enix will release a one disc physical soundtrack for the title on April 23 through their official record label. The size of the score and the weight of each composer’s contribution nevertheless remains unclear; Shimomura has already announced that her contribution was just one track. The album can be pre-ordered from CDJapan here.
