MAGFest lineup includes Mega Man, Street Fighter V composers
Top gaming and music festival MAGFest will return to Maryland on February 18 to 21. As with past titles in the series, MAGFest 2016 will celebrate video game culture with chiptune sets, cover band concerts, open video gaming rooms, special panels, and more.
The headlining act this year are the Inti Creates Sound Team led by Ippo Yamada. They will perform two concerts, one titled Lumen Super Live 2016 that is dedicated to Azure Strike Gunvolt, the other being a special Inti Creates 20th Anniversary concert featuring music from games worked on throughout their history including Mega Man Zero.
The performers with the band include Inti mainstays Ippo Yamada and Luna Umegaki, popular indie composer Yamajet, and vocalist Megu Sakuragawa. Also featured is Masahiro Aoki (aka Godspeed), a successful composer and guitar who served as the lead composer for the upcoming Street Fighter V.
Other composers this year include composers Grant Kirkhope (GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie), Alexander Brandon (Deus Ex, Unreal), Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, SOCOM 4) and Austin Wintory (with a live orchestral performance of his Journey soundtrack). Also featured are chiptune artists such as Chipzel and Kubbi, game music cover bands such as The OneUps and Metroid Metal, and Internet musical superstars Ninja Sex Party.
