Keiichi Okabe returns for surprise new Nier project

The Nier soundtrack has been one of the most successful game soundtracks ever released. The vocal-focused soundtrack from Tekken’s Keiichi Okabe and his team at Monaca sold thousands of copies on release and inspired multiple album releases.

Today, Square Enix announced that a new Nier game is being created for PlayStation 4, in cooperation with PlatinumGames. While the game itself was a massive surprise, less surprising is that Okabe will be returning to pen the title’s soundtrack. Though unconfirmed, it is anticipated that he will be joined once more by his co-composers at Monaca such as Keigo Hoashi and Kakeru Ishihama.

The working title’s debut trailer is shown above, featuring a solo piano arrangement of a Nier favourite.
