Just three days left to make sure Band Saga happens
Band Saga is a game that should appeal to most music lovers out there. Created by musician Roger Hicks (aka Rekcakdam) and artist Hillmon Ancrum, it has an unusual concept: “Band Saga is a modern Action Roguelike where every level, enemy and item is generated by music. Furthermore, every melody and every sound is synthesized in real time as you play. Each new area explored will unlock new sounds, items and the ability to modify and sequence them musically in Band Saga‘s built-in FM Sequencer reminiscent of the Sega Genesis!”
The soundtrack for Band Saga has already been released by Ubiktune through Bandcamp. All 13 songs were principally written, performed and engineered by Rekcahdam. Artists such as Laura Shigihara, Stemage, Disasterpeace, Jeff Ball, Mega Ran, and Danimal Cannon all made guest contributions to the soundtrack as co-composers and/or performers. It can be sampled below:
While the soundtrack is already available, the game is only midway through development. The game’s creators recently took to Kickstarter after their development funds ran dry. Thanks to a recent surge of support, it looks increasingly likely that Band Saga will reach its goal of 29,000 USD. However, it still has some way to go and needs all the help of those interested. If you’re interested in funding the project, pledge here. For just 5 USD, readers can receive both the digital game and its FM soundtrack.
