Giveaway Friday: Cosmic Star Heroine
Some weeks, we’ll be giving away digital editions of excellent albums to site visitors. However, only a handful of copies will be available to visitors and will usually be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis. Keep checking the site every Friday to get your hands on each giveaway!
This week’s giveaway is HyperDuck SoundWork’s score to Cosmic Star Heroine, a retro game with a retro soundtrack. The game is an old-school JRPG with a classic 16-bit SNES design and heavily infused with sci-fi elements. The music of Cosmic Star Heroine fuses together styles from the 80s and 90s for a wonderful throwback album, and has had a positive reception on Bandcamp. We spoke with HyperDuck SoundWorks’ Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-McCullough last year about the soundtrack, where they described their goal with the sound: “I think what we wanted was a journey through so many corners of the 80s and 90s, both in games, anime, and film, and not just a Newretrowave soundtrack, I don’t think something like that would have satisfied what we were trying to do with the music.”
The soundtrack can be redeemed here using the following codes:

This game represents years of dreaming about doing a Friday the h game, those dreams have brought us to this point. We’re taking the development of this game very seriously, and every penny we can put towards building a bigger and better experience, we will. We promise.
