ConSoul to perform at Sunnyvale Brooklyn
The 14-piece brass band ConSoul has been performing at venues for a couple of months now, and has been gaining traction recently with their regular performances at Sunnyvale Brooklyn, a performance venue in New York. ConSoul’s upcoming performance is a Pokemon Go-themed concert for fans to come and celebrate the game (Sunnyvale Brooklyn conveniently also doubles as a PokeStop), as well as for game music fans to come and enjoy the variety of musical genres the brass band has to offer.
The musicians in ConSoul range from Grammy award winners to Philharmonic performers, and their covers range from Latin Tetris to Funky Baba Yetu. “My son said he was going to the Zelda symphony, and I was thinking that it would be fun to have a big band that would play video game music – not symphonic, but funk/rock/salsa or other dance-able formats,” says Danny Flam, founder and member of ConSoul. “I started to speak to people and we got together a core group of people who love gaming and the music. Turns out even Grammy winning musicians love video game music!”
ConSoul will be playing at Sunnyvale Brooklyn on August 23. For more information on the event, and to hear some ConSoul covers of classic and new game music themes, visit their webpage here.
