Anamanaguchi and other chiptuners tied to Amplitude Kickstarter
This month, Harmonix Music Systems (Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Dance Central) launched a Kickstarter to develop a modern successor to rhythm game Amplitude. With just three days left, the campaign has raised 70% of the required funds and needs your help to reach the final target. You can learn about the game in the pitch video below:
Due to budget considerations, Harmonix will primarily incorporate original electronic music rather than licensed tracks into this title. In fact, Harmonix have just announced that a group of legendary artists and bands will contribute music for the game if funding is successful, several of them originating from the chiptune scene. This includes:
Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Bit.Trip Runner)
C418 (Minecraft, Catacomb Snatch)
Danny Baranowsky (Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac)
Freezepop (FreQuency, Amplitude)
Jim Guthrie (Sword & Sworcery, Indie Game)
Kasson Crooker (FreQuency, Amplitude)
George & Jonathan (The Best Music)
Harmonix will send those who pledge 70 USD or above a digital soundtrack featuring the original music created for the game. Those who pledge 200 USD or above will be able to receive a vinyl record as well, while those who pledge 500 USD or above will even have the chance to help with the music selection process for the game.
