Hamauzu, Shimomura, Ito, and Sakimoto attached to new RPG projects
There’s been quite a few game announcements in Japan over the past, coinciding with the Tokyo Game Show 2014. Among them, it has been been revealed that several ex-Square composers are working on some interesting new RPGs. The following titles were announced:
– The Legend of Legacy: A fantasy RPG developed and published by FuRyu, featuring a scenario from Masato Kato. Masashi Hamauzu is writing a primarily orchestral score, the first samples of which sound promising in the trailer below. The game will be released on Nintendo 3DS January 22, 2015.
– Zodiac: A 2D RPG for smartphones and Vita developed by Kobojo, featuring a scenario from Kazushige Nojima. Hitoshi Sakimoto is writing a familiarly-styled orchestral score for the game, while Basiscape’s Masaaki Kaneko is handling the sound design. First samples of his music are featured in the trailer below:
– Chronos Ring: A smartphone RPG developed by tri-Ace and published by Konami. Features a score from Yoko Shimomura, Kenji Ito, and Berklee-trained newcomer Evan Call (Elements Garden). The official teaser trailer, featuring music from the game, is below:
