Classic FM broadcast puts game music listeners in driving seat

The British radio station Classic FM have been doing amazing things to recognise video game music recently. Most notably, they have recognised several video game soundtracks in their Hall of Fame and have dedicated special broadcasts to game music phenomena, for example the concert Symphonic Fantasies.

Their recognition of game music will continue this evening (Saturday May 24) with the broadcast Saturday Night at the Movies. Howard Goodall will present a video games scores special, which puts listeners in the driving seat, as he exclusively plays listeners’ suggestions of brilliant video games music. Each piece will be requested by listeners.

There are a few requests from video game composers as well. Joris de Man, the Ivor Novello winning composer behind the music to the Killzone series, and Cris Velasco, composer of music for the God of War series, have also chosen the video game music that influenced them. Tune in from 5 to 7 PM tonight to hear the broadcast.
