Game Music Lullabies to feature relaxing covers from Hibino, AYAKI
Scarlet Moon Records announced today that they will release Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies next month. The album presents many of gaming’s greatest melodies in arrangements to sooth and relax. The covers will be performed by saxophonist Norihiko Hibino and pianist AYAKI, who have previously performed as ‘Gentle Love’. The ten track album will feature fully-licensed covers of music as diverse as Nier, Secret of Mana, and Demon’s Souls. A sample of the cover of Donkey Kong Country‘s “Aquatic Ambience” is presented below:
Upon announcing the album, album producer Jayson Napolitano said “Creating this album has given me the opportunity to highlight game scores that everyone already knows and loves, but also the chance to turn people on to something new. Given Norihiko Hibino’s work on the therapeutic applications of music and his talent for turning the saxophone into a dreamy, sleep-inducing instrument, I knew right away that he and pianist AYAKI were the perfect partners to bring Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies to life.” The album will be released on May 19 through Loudr and other digital retailers.
