A Realm Reborn soundtrack details and samples
Last year, Square Enix revamped their flop MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and relaunched it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to incredible critical and commercial reception. The soundtrack was also overhauled for the title, with many of Nobuo Uematsu‘s compositions from the original game being replaced by the work of sound director Masayoshi Soken. With the original Eorzea being destroyed by Bahamut at the end of Final Fantasy XIV, it was only fitting to have a fresh new score to match a new era and all the new settings.
Following many fan requests, Soken has compiled a soundtrack release for the title. The 119 track, 6+ hour release will feature all the major tracks from A Realm Reborn up to patch 2.1. The ambitious soundtrack includes numerous cinematic tracks arranged by FilmScore’s Nobuko Toda and performed by full orchestra, as well as a wealth of intricately layered setting themes and brazen battle anthems. Numerous samples of the score are available at the official site.
Somewhat controversially, Square Enix will be releasing the score exclusively in Blu-ray format. The package will cost 5250 JPY and can be pre-ordered from CDJapan now ahead of the March 26 release. Last year, the record label also released a further 104 track, 6+ hour Blu-ray soundtrack featuring Uematsu and company’s music from the original incarnation and patches of the game Before Meteor. Look out for reviews of both soundtracks next month.
