The Game Awards to have live video game music performances
Geoff Keighley, creator and host of The Game Awards, has today announced that the annual award show will have live video game music performances. The first annual Game Awards in 2014 included performances by legendary Nintendo composer Koji Kondo, Imagine Dragons and Lindsey Stirling. The following years deviated away from game music in exchange for modern, popular music acts, however in 2016 Mick Gordon performed songs from the Doom series.

This year’s awards will mark the first time since 2014 where the music segments will be focused on video game soundtracks, and the first time ever that an orchestra has performed. Keighley also promises special guests, which will be announced in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back here for those announcements.
As for our own dedicated video game music awards, we’ll have more to announce towards the end of the year.
