Austin Wintory releases soundtrack for Deformers
Austin Wintory (Journey, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate) has released the soundtrack for arena brawler Deformers on Bandcamp. Available for 6 USD, the ten track album captures the score for the game while serving as a fully-fledged listening experience in its own right. The ever-eloquent Wintory said the following about the album:
“I can honestly say I’ve never attempted a score anything like this. […] Even despite the openness of the direction they gave me, I remain astonished by just how much free reign Andrea Pessino and the devs at Ready at Dawn gave me. I came back with ‘what about an Italian western on steroids, mixed with psychotic circus music and flamenco?’ No one seemed to bat an eye, and so here we are! Having the chance to write music which is fun for fun’s sake, with such a wild palette, and in collaboration with such tremendous human beings is something I don’t take for granted.”
As with all of Wintory’s soundtracks, he assembled a top team of performers to record it. Orchestrated by Susie Seiter, the score was recorded in sessions in London and Macedonia. Much of the score centres on solo accordionist Ksenija Sidorova. Also featured are Sandy Cameron (violin), Scott Tennant (guitar), Tom Strahle (multiple instruments), Kristin Naigus (penny whistle, recorder), Holly Sedillos (soprano voice), Ross Garren (chromatic harmonica), and Daniel Alcheh (whistler).
