Yasunori Mitsuda leads music team for Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Nintendo revealed at a live whole bunch of titles, many of them exclusives, will be coming to their Switch console following its launch this March. Among them was Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a brand new RPG title developed by Monolith Soft.
The music for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be written by familiar faces. Yasunori Mitsuda is the lead composer for the title, having previously written the ending theme for Xenoblade Chronicles.
In addition, ACE (Tomori Kudo, CHiCO), Manami Kiyota, and Kenji Hiramatsu will reprise their roles from the original game. Mitsuda’s production company, Procyon Studio, handled sound programming and manipulation for the title.

Expecting 5 tracks at most from Mitsuda, 10 if we’re lucky.
I suspect you’re right and using Mitsuda’s name to build hype. This is fine for me though, as I enjoyed the contributions of the lesser-known composers on the original to those of Mitsuda and Shimomura!
Looking forward to seeing what ACE+ and Kiyota do for this work. I, too, suspect that Mitsuda’s role will be limited, although the music in the trailer certainly reminded me of him, at least towards the end.
Just a small nitpick: Mitsuda wrote the ending theme for the first Xenoblade Chronicles. The theme song was composed by Yoko Shimomura.
Thanks! I’ve fixed it up.
