Barry Leitch returns to racing with Horizon Chase, releases soundtrack CD
With a career dating back to 1985, Scottish composer Barry Leitch is one of the pioneers of racing game music, having extensively worked on franchises such as Lotus Turbo Challenge, Top Gear, and Rush. His latest project, the independently-developed Horizon Chase, is “a love letter to all the fans of 8 and 16 bit racing games.” Leitch said the following about working on the soundtrack:
“There was so much love put into this project. It was an absolute joy to write it, and it became very personal to me hearing repeatedly from people how fondly they remembered the old racing game soundtracks I worked on and how much a part of their childhood they had become. It was so heartwarming to hear those stories. So I felt a lot of pressure to deliver something that was as important to me as the originals had been to you.”
This month, Leitch will release the official soundtrack for the title in digital and physical forms. Available for 20 USD, the Horizon Chase Original Soundtrack CD features 15 tracks and 59 minutes of music from the racing game. Also coming is a digital release, which will also feature the three winning remixes from the Horizon Chase Remix Contest.
